Bloober Team Announces Partnership With Skybound Entertainment, Developing a New Title By 2025

Bloober Team, the studio behind Silent Hill 2 Remake and The Medium, has announced today it has signed a deal with Skybound Entertainment, the company founded by Robert Kirkman and David Alpert.

While the specifics of the deal haven’t been mentioned yet, we know that the Bloober Team will develop a new title on the IP owned by Skybound Entertainment. The title is codenamed “R” and is expected to launch in 2025. Piotr Babieno, CEO of Bloober Team, said in a statement:

This project is the next step in the 2nd party strategy, under which we cooperate with external partners providing our horror know-how. These are not titles that are intended to give us only financial profit, but are further steps in achieving our strategy by the end of 2027.

We have known each other with our friends from Skybound for a long time and I am sure that it will be a successful cooperation.

The joint effort by both studios could turn out pretty interesting since the Bloober Team is almost preparing to release Silent Hill 2 Remake, and Skybound is mainly famous for its prized The Walking Dead series (in addition to the comic book story Invincible) franchise. As such, the game will likely be a horror title set in the universe of The Walking Dead.

Bloober Team has witnessed hiccups with the release of Silent Hill 2 Remake. However, just recently, the studio revealed that the game is on track and in line with the team’s internal schedule. Earlier this year, the Polish developer released the Unreal Engine 5-powered Layers of Fear remake, which received an 8 out of 10 score in Wccftech’s review.

For better or worse, remakes are always controversial. Still, with Layers of Fear, Bloober Team and Ansher Studios fully delivered on their promises, creating the definitive way to experience these journeys into madness. While playing them back-to-back becomes a little repetitive, there’s no denying that there isn’t a more immersive horror experience to be had in 2023.
