Enshrouded Reaches Over a Million Players After Four Days on Steam Early Access

Enshrouded, the new title from the makers of Portal Knights, has already sold over one million units since its Steam Early Access launch that occurred just last week, marking a huge milestone for the developers.

The new Zelda and Valheim inspired game has received a lot of interest, once again proving the immense draw of the survival genre after the global phenomenon that is Palworld. Here is how the team at Keen Games has thanked the whole community:

In just four days, Enshrouded has attracted over a million players. We are completely blown away by its success and the overwhelmingly positive reception. From the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank all our players. We’re excited to let you know that this is just the beginning for Enshrouded. We are looking forward to continuing the development of the game with your support, aiming to make Enshrouded the best game it can be. Once again, a heartfelt thank you to everyone.

It seems like Keen Games has managed to create something that is quite appreciated by the community. For those unaware of Enshrouded, check out our previous interview with Creative Director Antony Christoulakis. Here’s a snippet where he explains the concept of the split world:

We have the above world, which is still ruined. It’s post-apocalyptic, but it carries the spirit of the beauty of abandoned places, which inspired us in terms of visual aesthetics. So there’s still the sun shining, but it’s also a bit about the hope of creating something new from the ashes of the past, going out in this ruined world and discovering what actually happened there and finding all these sad stories but also intrigue about what happened in the past, and then trying to take all these resources and then populate your own home that grows into a bigger place over time.

Then we have this world below, which is slightly more Lovecraftian I would say, in terms of the creatures that are down there, like undead creatures of various shapes.

Enshrouded is available now on Steam Early Access (and currently 10 percent off for less than two days). A release date for the full version of the game has not been provided but should take place within a year. Console versions of the game are also coming later, likely around that time.
