Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’s Vincent Valentine is Voiced by Popular Tears of the Kingdom and Resident Evil Voice Actor

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’s Vincent Valentine is being voiced by famous voice actor Matthew Christopher Miller, better known as Matt Mercer.

The news was confirmed through the official Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Twitter account yesterday. Following the announcement, the popular voice actor took to Twitter to thank everyone for the positive energy. “A year of dreams culminates with this one”, Mercer wrote. “No game has had the impact on me quite like FF7 did, and to be a part of it, let alone one of my favorite characters, is an honor beyond words.”

The actor added, “Thank you all for the energy.”

Mercer is known for his voice work on various Anime series as well as voicing numerous popular video game characters, including Ganondorf from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Leon S. Kennedy in Resident Evil 6, Titanfall 2’s Jack Cooper, MacCready in Fallout 4, Chrom and Ryoma in Fire Emblem, and many more.

Vincent Valentine, the iconic former Turk as seen in the original Final Fantasy VII, will also join your party in the upcoming next part of the Final Fantasy VII Remake – Rebirth. From the looks of it, Valentine won’t be playable in Rebirth, but it’s likely that this will be the case in the next part of the Remake.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth releases on February 29, 2024, for PlayStation 5. A PC release hasn’t been announced just yet. We’ve included the game’s release date announcement trailer below:

The action-packed trailer features iconic characters Cloud, Aerith, Barret and Tifa in a sci-fi and fantasy-inspired world teeming with danger at every turn. The unlikely heroes join forces with new playable companions, including Yuffie, a member of Wutai’s elite corps of ninja operatives, Red XIII, a beast with a flaming tail who offers words of wisdom to Cloud’s party from time to time, and Cait Sith, a wisecracking, feline-shaped robot often seen poised atop his big moogle pal, to hunt down Sephiroth, the one-winged angel bent on ruling the planet.

Players will take these characters into battle and use powerful synergy abilities to strengthen their bonds further while tackling dangerous fiends. As players journey across a vast, vibrant world ripe for exploration and discover classic locales reimagined in dazzling detail, they will also encounter dozens of hours of rewarding side content and mini-games, in addition to the rich side stories about the planet’s incredible people and cultures.
